The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists’ 2015 Annual Scientific Meeting (RANZCR 2015 Adelaide)
October 29, 2015 - November 1, 2015$1980
The integrated care theme was conceptualised due to the changing role of the radiologist and radiation oncologist in the clinical setting. The traditional view of the radiologist as a specialist who adds value to the health care system solely by generating and interpreting diagnostic images is no longer accurate. The radiologists’ roles have evolved to include economic gate keeping, political advocacy, public health delivery, patient safety, quality of care improvement and information technology.
Likewise the role of the radiation oncologist requires an ever expanding range of skills in order to provide patients with optimal multidisciplinarycare. The responsible use of new technologies, integration of increasingly complex diagnostic information and the emergence of personalised care continue to challenge radiation oncology practice. Growing reliance on image-guided radiation therapy techniques will continue to solidify the relationship between the disciplines of radiology and radiation oncology.
It is with this mindset that the RANZCR ASM 2015 Organising Committee has based its scientific program. The plenary sessions will consist of a panel incorporating the radiologists, radiation oncologists and other relevant specialists including surgeons to highlight the integral role of our fields in the diagnostic pathway and management algorithm of patients. The scientific program will be enticing for delegates due to the high profile keynote speakers who will be presenting at the meeting.
