Pediatric Emergencies in the Dental Office – Emory University School of Medicine

This course is designed to improve the pediatric dentist’s ability to manage pediatric and adolescent medical emergencies that may occur in the dental office. The focus will be on practical, hands-on procedures needed in the early evaluation and management period. The application of this information will be practiced in simulated emergency scenarios.

Who Should Attend?

Dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and all members of the dental team will benefit from this clinically focused program.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the course you should be able to:

  • Prepare staff to handle medical emergencies
  • Prevent many medical emergencies from occurring in the office
  • Systematically assess acute medical problems which may arise
  • Describe the most current techniques used to handle the initial management of medical emergencies
