Neurology Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
- Review a neurological exam
- Explain the differential diagnosis of seizures and the clinical pharmacology of anti-epileptic drugs
- Distinguish dementia from delirium, as well as recognize the neurological changes of normal aging
- Discuss developments in diagnostic technology and stroke management
- Assess and manage vascular and non-vascular headaches and migraines
Psychiatry Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
- Review diagnosis and treatment (pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic) of substance abuse, anxiety disorders, and ADHD in adults
- Discuss mood stabilizing psychosocial and pharmacologic treatments of bipolar disorder as well as frequent comorbid psychiatric disorders
- Describe common obstacles to coping with chronic illness and understand strategies that facilitate medication adherence, including the role of self-concept in adapting
- Identify and set limits with problematic patients and use tools to manage personal reactions
- Review risk factors and patients at risk for suicide and violence and intervene to make timely referrals to combat hopelessness
