Ultrasound is a very effective tool for diagnosing a wide variety of foot and ankle problems, particularly soft tissue problems. It can also highlight injuries or problems with muscles, tendons, joints and bones in the feet. Ultrasound also allows you to monitor how well tendons, muscles and ligaments are healing. This course will provide you with an introduction to ultrasound of the foot and ankle and includes ultrasound appearances of lower limb pathologies.
Common problems for which ultrasound may be prescribed include:
- Heel spurs or plantar fasciitis.
- Injuries of the ligaments, tendons, or cartilage.
- Morton’s neuroma.
- A presence of foreign bodies.
- Soft tissue masses.
- Tarsal tunnel syndrome.
- Tendonitis or tears in a tendon.
This course is aimed at podiatrists, foot and ankle surgeons, physiotherapists, sports medicine specialists and anyone practicing in musculoskeletal medicine who have little or no experience of musculoskeletal ultrasound and who wish to obtain an introduction in musculoskeletal ultrasound skills.
