Drawing for Surgeons – The Royal College Of Surgeons Of England
July 14, 2016 - July 15, 2016£420
An acclaimed two-day drawing course aimed at improving the observational and recording skills of surgeons. Learn how to observe and record accurately through drawing, using long tailored artists’ techniques, in a range of materials, in order to support patient care through detailed and high-quality descriptive drawings and operative notes. This course also develops skills that can be used to communicate visually through presentation and publication and form part of lifelong learning.
Practical drawing and painting sessions with individual tuition, guidance and support throughout both days.
Day 1 is based in the Education department and focuses on the introduction and familiarisation of drawing techniques that enhance those observational skills that greatly contribute to improving the quality of drawing and visual communication. Delegates will explore shape, line, tone, and colour in a variety of materials, in a challenging, innovative yet supportive and informal environment.
At the end of the first day, delegates are able to visit the National Portrait Gallery to see and examine many of the techniques employed during the day in order to gain further insight and understanding
Day 2 is based at the Wellcome Museum of Anatomy and Pathology and offers surgeons more opportunities to further develop those newly acquired artistic skills in an environment that is more familiar, that takes them back towards surgery and closer towards their own specialism and professional interests.
