Dermatopathology Update – Harvard Medical School
September 15, 2016 - September 17, 2016$1,025
This course offers a broad overview of many areas of dermatopathology presented by Harvard Medical School faculty and selected guest faculty with expertise in the subject matter. With many gaps in patient satisfaction and several unique challenges to clinicians in the field of dermatopathology, this course is designed to update both academic and practicing pathologists, dermatologists, dermatopathologists, and others in the community with new advances in dermatopathology, especially in melanocytic lesions, cutaneous lymphomas, and inflammatory dermatoses. We also aim to provide aids in diagnosis based on conventional morphologic analysis as well as updates on new techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology to the extent that they bear on establishing the correct diagnosis. The program features conventional didactic lectures with frequent discussion periods and interactive case-based sessions with faculty.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Apply clinical pathologic correlation in evaluating melanocytic neoplasms.
- Evaluate and distinguish cutaneous lymphomas from mimics.
- Discuss new criteria for pathologic diagnoses.
- Integrate modern staging systems for tumors into clinical practice.
- Evaluate and distinguish malignancies from non-neoplastic mimics of malignancy.
The target audience is practicing dermatopathologists, dermatologists, and pathologists whether in community practice or academic practice in the US or international locations. Residents in training and fellows will also find the course of educational value.
