Annual Southwestern Conference on Medicine – Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation
April 28, 2016 - May 1, 2016$550
The 25th Annual Southwestern Conference on Medicine will take place Thursday, April 28 – Sunday, May 1, 2016 at The Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa Tucson. The Southwestern Conference on Medicine is an annual event designed to bridge practice gaps between primary care providers’ current knowledge, practice performance, patient outcomes and the ever-evolving standards of care in modern medicine. Primary care providers, internal medicine, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and all other physician specialties are minimally exposed to the continual influx of new research data, recent studies and emerging disease states, and lack expert mentoring to be able to improve their practice performance and patient outcomes. By providing the latest findings and technological advances, the Conference will allow healthcare professionals to more successfully advise their patients, leading to improved patient care and health. Participation in this activity will improve the learner’s competence, performance and patient outcomes through presentation of cutting edge diagnosis and treatment options as well as best practice guidelines in areas including but not limited to lipid guidelines, pediatrics, women’s health, allergies and asthma, dermatology, patient motivation techniques, gastroenterology, rheumatology, cardiology, psychiatry and neurology topics. The knowledge, competence and performance gaps of this educational activity were developed from data collected from past Conference attendees and outcomes measurement tools, the Planning Committee’s perceptions of needed improvements in primary care diagnosis and treatments, national and local statistics and review of current trends in technology and medical literature.
